Fall '94 Boston N6
Surprisingly great run of shows. As for this closing night of the Boston run, my highlight is the first set, Bird Song closer. Controlled chaos at its finest. As for the second set, interesting song selection: Box to open, following by Shakedown then Cassidy. Next comes a rare GDTRFB (previously played 29 shows prior, this penultimate version wouldn't be played for another 67 shows, until 7/5/95) that segues into drums. Rare combo - perhaps only a handful of times played - and mostly in '86. I also really like the space and Attics and imagine the Brokedown encore to have been rather emotional.

Boston '94.... my last solidly consistent shows
Saw 3 of the fall '94 run... 9/29, 10/1 and 10/3. Had tickets for the whole run, but life was hectic as a 35 year old attorney and father of 2 young girls.... so I picked and chose based on schedule leaving me with these 3 shows.... other than the train wreck of an I Fought the Law encore on 9/29, I felt like I caught 3 solid shows.... nothing that so much as hinted at the Giants Stadium disaster from August 3rd, or forebode the crash and burn of 1995.....
or the train wrecks in DC a week later [4th row center the 3rd night at the US Air Arena fka Cap Center, and Jerry was a mess].... just solid tune selection and playing.... But that's the nature of smack. A fine line between a euphoric high and being a total waste.... Anyway..... I enjoyed this one.... especially the pre-drumz section of 2nd set..... nice to see Cassidy and GDTRFB in those slots..... Yes, there were some redeeming moments in 1994.... and as a native of north Jersey and a hater of the Bruins [GO RANGERS!!!], it still rings ironic that the old Boston Garden was the sight of my last good shows...... And my rating is based on a combination of music, song selection, playing, and how much effing fun I had at the show.... and truth be told, the latter bumped it a star!!
